After nearly seven decades of faithful service and 39 consecutive years at the top of the pickup sales charts, the Ford F-Series trucks remain a hallmark of the American automotive scene. And it doesn’t look like that love affair shows any signs of slowing down.

In fact, just last year Ford shifted an incredible 780,000 of its F-Series workhorses, its best showing since 2006.

In a nod to the venerable F-Series and its most popular F-150 manifestation, partcatalog.com put together this clever GIF, morphing each generation into the next—all 13 of them, dating back to 1948. While the late-model trucks clearly don’t mirror the earliest Ford F-Series pickups, it’s neat to see how the styles come and go, and sometimes return anew—from rounded to squared, and back through once again.

Take a look below, and let us know which is your favorite Ford pickup.

For many, that “favorite” truck will be the one they remember from their youth. For the children of the ‘50s, it’ll probably be the curvaceous pickups of the first and second generations—trucks so loved by hot rodders and restorers alike. For the ‘60s and ‘70s, perhaps it’s memories of summer road trips spent in a “Camper Special” that bring to mind these classic square-body trucks.

As for the children of the late ‘80s and early ‘90s, it may very well be Ford’s original muscle truck, the macho Ford SVT Lightning, followed by its second iteration.

Regardless, here’s to the next 68 years.
