The DeLorean DMC-12 is an instantly recognizable car. It was made famous through the Back to the Future franchise and became sort of a symbol of the ’80s. This particular DeLorean is even more famous for belonging to The Smoking Tire‘s Matt Farah, who has recently put it up for auction.
This is an extremely clean car with only 4,400 miles on the odometer. It was first sold in 1984 and driven 2,450 miles before it was placed in a Los Angeles storage unit for 28 years. Farah bought the car four years ago and put an additional 2,000 miles on his new toy.
He also gave the car a refresh that included an engine rebuild, new wiring, and a DMC “Fix Everything” kit that replaced over 40 items known to be prone to failure. The engine got an upgrade to a DMC Stage II Performance package and there’s also a new suspension sytem.
Despite all those changes, cosmetically, the car is still the same. Farah’s goal was to make it road worthy, but keep it looking like the DeLorean everyone remembers. It’s currently up for auction so go place your bid to own this dually famous machine.
