Supercars and Dubai– the two go together like a twin-turbocharged V12 and a dual-clutch gearbox. The middle eastern financial hub is where many supercars are purchased– and as of late, they have even started making their own. The latest example is this — the unimaginatively named Dubai Roadster.

Even though the renderings of the car include those of the “2020 Dubai Expo,” reports suggest we may see a real version of this car as early as 2015. According to one report, the car may weigh as little as 1,700 pounds and be made largely from carbon fiber. Power could come from a V8 making somewhere in the neighborhood of 400 horsepower.

But there is some skepticism. Despite news of the car being reported in several sources, some are asking the simple question, “who made this?” At the moment, the only answer is “an unnamed Emirati racer.” Still, given the wealth and appetite coming from the region, we are inclined to believe that this car could come to fruition whether it’s only a concept or not.

Either way, if it does become a reality, it would compete with minimalist sportscars like the KTM X-Bow and BAC Mono. That is pretty good company in the motoring world.
