A clandestine group of investors – we’ll call them SPECTRE – came together to build 50 limited edition 007 ‘SpyCar’ replicas, which they’ve grouped together as a 50th Anniversary Collection, and have outfitted with all the gizmos and gadgets from the movie. Interested? Better start saving. This one, the 44th of the series, will cost you a whopping $249,000.
There is one proviso – it’s not actually an Aston Martin Vanquish. Rather, the group cites that the actual stunt cars used during the filming of Die Another Day featured Aston Martin bodies and Ford running gear. These 50 replicas were rationalized in much the same way. As such, these Bond cars are based on 2000 to 2004 Ford Mustangs and sport custom body work, 4.6-liter V8s, Ford 4R70 four-speed automatics, and Vortech superchargers, making a claimed 450-horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque.
The gadgets? Yes, they actually work… within reason of course. You won’t be able to launch rockets willy-nilly at merging cars, but with the push of a button the warheads do automatically emerge from the car’s grille, the machine gun turrets pop out of the hood, and the license plate can pull its revolving door party trick. And for your special someone, a secret panel in the dashboard opens up to reveal a bottle of Dom Pérignon and two champagne glasses.

The builds were headed up by British Columbia’s Exclusive Motor Cars, which spent an alleged 45,000 hours of research and development time on the project and around 2,500 hours on the construction of each car. The original allotment of 50 vehicles sold out long ago, presumably all to MI6 agents, but number 44 and a few of the other 007 ‘SpyCars’ have since come up for sale again.
