THE 1990's, HINTS OF A NEW MUSCLE CAR ERA WAS ON IT'S WAY.

The 1990's could be broken down into two categories, Ground breaking automobiles & evolving reincarnated pony cars that helped to resurrect the new muscle car era.,

First we had the 1990 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, code named "King of the Hill." It. was a collaboration between Chevrolet & Lotus,  GM acquired Lotus in 1986. Lotus designed the new LT5, GM was on a quest to build the fastest production car in the world. The engines were assembled by Mercury Marine, GM didn't have a place that could handle the workload to build these creatures. The power plant had four overhead cams & 32 valves. the unique air management system which allowed 8 of the 16 runners & fuel injectors to be shut of during half throttle. MSRP was set at $58,995. At 375 H.P. it truly was "King of the Hill" in it's day.

Then in 1992, Dodge introduced the 1992 Dodge Viper R/T. An un heard of 10 cylinders,  0-60 in 4 seconds, 1/4 mile 12.9 seconds @113.8 M.P.H, top speed 180 M.P.H., 400 H.P.

I'd say that the ZR1 had it's hands full.

the three pony car of the 1990's, The Camaro, Mustang & Trans Am all had their days in the sun in the '90's. the all were making strides to reclaim their Muscle Car mystique of the '60's.

From 1993 until 2002 the Camaro & Firebird/Trans Am became technologically incredible automobiles. The Camaro SS and the Trans Am with it's WS-6 Ram Air Package, set the stage for what was ahead in the 21st century.

The Ford Mustang SVT Cobra & Cobra R had a model run from 1993-2004. These machines held their own with their GM counterparts.

These five legendary cars were a sneak preview of what was ahead in the future.
