Say you’re in the market for an ultra-rare Italian exotic. A logical step might be to look at the Ferrari Enzo– but there are too many of them you say? We’ll time for something a bit less passé. How about a car with all the performance of an Enzo, but with the added style and panache of a Maserati? One is available, but you better open up your wallet– or hedge fund.
The Maserati MC12 is a vehicle built by the Italian automaker so that it could compete in the FIA GT Championship for sports car racing. In order for a race car to compete in GT racing, it needs to be homologated– meaning that a certain number of consumer versions of the car have to be built to validate its consumer viability. For the MC12, that number was only 55.
The MC12 runs on the platform of the Ferrari Enzo, but with more curvaceous, and arguably sexier, body work. It is powered by Ferrari’s incredible 6.0-liter V12, making 620 horsepower. Now, one of these insane supercars can be yours, but at an insane price.
Symbolic Motor Car Company of La Jolla, CA is selling a 2004 Maserati MC12. With 1,128 miles on the odometer, it was decently driven for a car of its age. It can be yours for princely sum of $1.5 million. We obviously can’t afford it, but we can certainly stare and drool.
