For decades, the names Rick Hendrick and Hendrick Motorsports have been synonymous with Chevrolet and NASCAR’s winning circle. After all, the organization has chalked up over 200 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series wins and more than 10 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Championships. And it is for that reason that Chevrolet is recognizing Hendrick for his 30 years of great success at the Martinsville Speedway, according to motorsport.com.
Since the very beginning, Hendrick Motorsports has only fielded Chevrolet race cars, putting them in the trusted hands of the likes of victors like Geoff Bodine, Darrell Waltrip, Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon. Behind the wheel, Hendrick drivers have racked up 272 wins, 219 of which were in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, 11 Sprint Cup Championships and an amazing 14 NASCAR Owner Championships.
Of those victories, 21 were secured at Martinsville Speedway in Ridgeway, Virginia, the latest stop for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, making Hendrick Motorsports the most decorated organization to race at the premiere track.
Current drivers for Hendrick, Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon both hold records for the most victories by active drivers at the track with eight wins each. This, of course, has helped push Chevrolet’s total victories at the facility to an impressive 52.

“Rick’s success over the past three decades is the result of his passion, persistence and emphasis on teamwork to get the job done. As a result, Hendrick Motorsports has 272 wins and 14 NASCAR Owner Championships – all with Chevrolet. As a key partner and respected friend, we congratulate Rick and Hendrick Motorsports on 30 great years of racing and winning.”
Chevrolet and Hendrick Motorsports’ first joint win took place on April 29th, 1984, setting the stage for 30 great years of racing. As the 30th anniversary of that date draws near, Chevrolet couldn’t be prouder of their bond with Rick Hendrick and his motorsports teams.
For 2014, we doubt that will change as Chevy continues its rein as a leading manufacturer on and off the track, and with Hendrick Motorsports already having four top-20 drivers in the latest NASCAR season as well as a win at the 2014 Daytona 500 under their belt.
Congratulations goes out to both Hendrick Motorsports and Chevrolet for three decades of racing prowess.
