JR Motorsports, 4 entries at Texas Nationwide Series race, brings home a win

Elliott wins big in Texas

When Dale Earnhardt Jr. created JR Motorsports in April of 2007, I doubt that he envisioned the possibility of entering four top tier cars at the track where he won his first Nationwide Series race, ( formally Busch Series), and his first Sprint  Cup series race, (formally Winston Cup Series.)

The four entries all made it into the top ten to start the race :

One of those cars, won the poll, Kevin Harvick in  the #5 Hunt Brothers Pizza Chevrolet Camaro.  and finished fourth. He dominated the race.

Regan Smith, in his #7 Tax Slayer Chevrolet Camaro started third and finished seventh.

Dale Earnhardt Jr., in his #88 Ragu Chevrolet Camaro started fourth and finished fifth.

And the biggest part of the night was Chase Elliott,, in his #9 NAPA Chevrolet, started sixth and went on to win the race !

Chase Elliott is the 18 year old son of Bill & Cindy Elliott.

Who would have thought that two fierce competitors like Dale Earnhardt (Sr.,) and Bill Elliott, who made the "Pass in the Grass" famous at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, in the 1987 Winston All-Star Race, would have sons that went on to make their own racing history together.

To his credit, this was Chase Elliott's first Nationwide Series win in just his sixth career Nationwide start.

All four JR motorsports teams started and finished in the Top Ten, which is quite an accomplishment. Truth be told, Rick Hendricks is part owner of JR motorsports, and the engines for JRM come from the Hendricks organization.

Here's another piece of history. the race was televised on Fox Sports 2, which my cable subscriber does not offer in the area where I live. I was lucky enough to own a computer that offered WATCH/ESPN, which allowed me to watch the race on my computer.......that's what I call technology.
