It’s been a couple of months since China’s Wanxiang bought the remains of bankrupt electric car startup Fisker Automotive. Since then the company has launched a new website for Fisker and announced that it would like to start production of the Karma luxury sedan and a smaller model Fisker was developing called the Atlantic.

Speaking with The Detroit News, an interim president for the rejuvenated Fisker, Roger Brown, has revealed that the plan for Fisker is to relaunch the Karma in mid-2015 and follow this up by a Karma wagon called the Surf in 2016 and the smaller Atlantic sedan in 2017.

But before any of this can happen, Fisker has some major hurdles to overcome, Brown, an expert at turning around distressed businesses, explained. These include establishing new headquarters, finding a new CEO, and recruiting. up to 200 staff for mostly engineering work.

Fisker will also need to determine a location to build its future range. One possibility is a plant in Delaware that Fisker purchased before its bankruptcy and is now owned by the rejuvenated version of the company.

Interestingly, Brown also revealed that the Fisker name might be dropped. He explained that the cars themselves were the real stars and not the brand itself. It’s been previously reported that Fisker wasn’t the owner of the Fisker brand name and logo, with those particular assets said to be the property of Fisker Coachbuild LLC, which was started by Fisker co-founder and namesake Henrik Fisker prior to his failed electric car. venture.

Stay tuned for an update.
