Mercedes-Benz has announced a return to its off-roading roots with the new G350d Professional. This SUV is designed to handle the roughest terrain with plenty of capability and a rugged interior.
Power comes from a turbocharged 3.0-liter diesel V6 with 245 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque. It’s paired to a seven-speed automatic transmission. The new G350d has some impressive numbers that should have fans of older G-Wagens drooling.

It has a top speed of 100mph and posts a 0-60 mph time of only 8.8 seconds, which is remarkably fast for this type of vehicle. The G350d has permanent all-wheel drive with an off-road ratio and three electrically selectable differential locks. Payload capacity is 1,305 pounds and towing capacity is an additional 7,054 pounds.
The interior isn’t  fancy since this vehicle will see its share of mud and muck. There are rubber floor mats that can be removed to hose off and even a drain plug in the floor so you can hose down the whole thing. If you want fancy, then there is the Professional Off-Road package which adds a wood-finished cargo area.
Starting price is $89,000 with the G350d hitting the market later this year.
