James Bond movies have become enough of an industry in Britain that the hard sell of tickets begins when the movie hasn't even started filming yet.

Today, for example, the cast and director Sam Mendes staged a brief press conference to reveal the name of the 24th Bond film — "Spectre" — and more importantly, Bond's new set of wheels. Here's his new ride, the Aston Martin DB10, a car that Aston Martin says will have a life outside the movie set.

From the original Aston Martin DB3 as driven by Sean Connery to the Lotus Espirit submarine to that time he drove a Citroen 2CV, cars have been a key player in the James Bond movies. Roughly the size of the V-8-powered Vantage, the Aston Martin DB10 has several unique touches from production Aston models, including a new grille and tail treatment.

The DB10 will of course not be the only set of wheels Bond commands in the film; there's rumors afoot that Bond will even try out a Fiat 500 during a scene in Rome.

Aston didn't immediately release much more data about the car, but said Bond wouldn't be the only driver; it will also sell 10 copies of the DB10 for an unspecified amount. Thus, the new Bond film, featuring Daniel Craig, Christoph Waltz and others, will set a first for a Bond movie — serving double duty as a spy thriller and a car
ad that people pay to see.
