We were kind of enamored with the Scion C-HR concept when it showed up in LA (after its original debut in Paris, 2014). It was unique, it was creative, and it was something we very much wanted to see for sale. Now, it will be—or at least, after it shows up at the Detroit Auto Show next month.

A source close to Toyota told Car and Driver that a production-version of the C-HR will in fact be on display when doors open to the Cobo Center next month. While it might be a bit late to the CUV game, Toyota/Scion has a few surprises in store with its latest compact.

Under the hood will be a 1.8-liter engine—the same one you’ll find in the new Prius, this time with a turbo affixed. That being said, rumors are supporting the theory that it could ride atop the very same platform with both front- and all-wheel-drive options available.

As far as horsepower goes, don’t expect to be getting much. Only 121 horsepower is estimated to fit under the hood, which is actually 14 less than the current Prius (though we suspect it will be lighter).

With its debut in Detroit, the C-HR will go on sale sometime towards the middle of the year, and hopefully it retains a number of cues from the concepts we’ve seen previously.
