Camaro Crash

Development of the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 hit a roadblock recently while testing at Nürburgring. More accurately, it hit a guardrail when the driver had a little trouble on the track and managed to crash the test Camaro.

The Z/28 is set to be a lighter, harder version of the ZL1 and has been testing for months. Although the crash will likely slow things a bit, this is why they test and it’s part of the learning process. No one wants to see a prototype crash, but it happens and engineers simply learn and move on.

According to AutoCar, details have yet to be released, but the new Z/28 will likely be powered by the same engine as the ZL1. That puts a V8 with up to 650 horsepower under the hood.

It will also feature active damping technology and Magnetic Ride Control with that fixed rear wing. Clearly, this is a car built to enjoy a little time on the track. Pricing won’t be cheap. The 2014 Z/28 came in at $75,000 and this won’t isn’t likely to cost any less.
