7Watch the New Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Attack the Nürburgring

BOLD RIDE

Chevrolet Camaro ZL1

It’s only been a few weeks since the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 prototype left the track and hit the wall hard during testing at Nürburgring. Undeterred, the Chevy team is back at it again with the new Camaro ZL1.

There are two Camaro ZL1s for the test drivers to whip around the famous track, and hopefully both of them fare better than the Z/28. Since all the details are out on Camaro ZL1, they’re running the track without camo. There’s nothing to hide for either these cars, and plenty for us to look at.

According to the video, the red car is using Chevy’s new 10-speed automatic transmission. They claim it’ll shift faster than Porsche’s double-clutch gearbox. Chevy isn’t messing around with this one. The blue car is a manual transmission, so you get to see and hear two different flavors of the hardcore muscle coupe.

They look great screaming down the track, and sound even better. Over the squealing tires, the sound of the 640-horsepower engine under the hood bulge is impressive. You’ll get your chance to own one and find out for yourself what it’s like to drive when the car goes on sale later on this year as a 2017 model.
