The UK Now Has a 600-HP Lamborghini Huracan Taxi

The basic formula for modern taxi cabs is pretty straightforward—a vehicle with ample space for luggage, good reliability and inexpensive running costs, and crucially plenty of seats for passengers. 

By all accounts, a two-seat $200,000 Lamborghini Huracan supercar is probably one of the worst options to press into taxi cab service. It is however a very unique selection, and now this vibrant green Huracan is the UK’s newest hire car.

According to The Independent, the 2016 Lamborghini Huracan became the first supercar licensed for private taxi service in the United Kingdom, a license which was granted by the Wolverhampton City Council in the British West Midlands.

The price for a Lamborghini supercar to come pick you up? The company who registered the taxi, Special Wedding Cars, says a ride in the Huracan will cost £349 (about $500) per 90 minutes in-transit. Passengers, or should we say “passenger” (only two seats), can then zip all around the UK’s Black Country in style.

While the Lamborghini won’t be able to fully stretch its legs on public roads, the all-new Huracan is capable of launching to 60 mph in just 3.2 seconds and cracking the 200 mph barrier. The tremendous performance comes courtesy of the 602-horsepower V10 housed in its rear.

Though it is the only Lamborghini licensed for taxi duty by the company, it isn’t its only exotic supercar. The firm also keeps in its collection a BMW i8, Lamborghini Gallardo, Bentley Continental GT, a vintage Jaguar E-Type, and even a classic London taxi cab as well.

The company says the Huracan has arrived just in time for high school prom season, however if you’re bringing a date, you might want to book an extra cab too.
