If you want to pick up a Dodge Charger or Challenger Hellcat, you’re staring down the barrel of minimum $65,000. That doesn’t include ridiculous dealer markups. But why settle for a markup when one Ford dealership is making the decision much easier for muscle car enthusiast.

For just $39,995, an Ohio Ford dealership will sell you a 727-horsepower Hellcat-throttling Mustang GT. That doesn’t include options. The extra oomph is courtesy of one Roush supercharger, which brings power from a measly 435 to the aforementioned 727.

It may seem too good to be true, but The Drive recently reached out to Roush to see if this Mustang was the real deal. Lo and behold, it is. Speaking with Charlie Watson, Roush parts manager, the goal was “to focus on establishing a nationwide base of enthusiasts rather than making huge profits on each car.”

Out the door, most buyers are likely to spend closer to $45,000 with options, even some customers going as high as $60,000 (still cheaper than a Hellcat). All said and done, it’s hard to find fault in this high-horsepower deal—and it’s a heluva way for Roush to win back some of its fanbase.
