If you grew up at a certain time, you might recall a show named The Persuaders! It starred Rodger Moore as Lord Brett Sinclair and Tony Curtis as Danny Wilde, his partner-in-crime. There was another star of the show; an Aston Martin. And it has been sold at auction for a princely sum.
In the show, Curtis drove a left-hand-drive Ferrari Dino 246 GT, and Moore helmed a right-hand-drive 1970 Aston Martin DBS. The latter was sold at the annual Bonhams Auction at Aston Martin Works. Here is a scene from the show, featuring both cars, and set to the opening theme:
The car, which was painted in Bahama Yellow and was specially designed for the series, sold for a ‘record’ £533,000 (roughly $896,319), according to Bonhams. The car only had a six-cylinder engine, but had V8 markings for the show, and yet it still set a record for selling price of an Aston Martin DBS.
