Some of the coolest and rarest cars ever to cross the auction blocks are those with significant historical value. Such is the case with this full restored 1946 Chrysler Town Car Limo, which was commissioned by John D. Rockefeller Jr. and is set to be auctioned off next month at the Vancouver Collector Car Show and Auction.
According to the auction listing, this gorgeous 1946 Chrysler Town Car Limo is a one-off car with a dual cowl and suicide rear doors. The 1946 Chrysler Town & Country was obviously the starting point for this car, but it features an incredible custom body built by Derham, which the listing says was “one of the greatest auto builders of the Era.” Rockefeller Jr. and other rear passengers obviously rode in style and comfort in this limo with a divider window, dual heaters, vanity mirrors and plenty of wood trim.
This 1946 Chrysler Town Car Limo has undergone a meticulous restoration right down to the chrome trim and white-wall tires. Under its mile-long hood sits a straight-eight engine and three-speed hydromatic transmission, which have both been restored as well.
There’s no word as to how much Rockefeller Jr.’s 1946 Chrysler Town Car Limo could go for, but judging by this car’s history and current condition, it surely won’t be cheap. As an added measure, though, it also comes with a rebuilt, original spare engine on a separate rolling stand.
