It is a widely held notion that the Jaguar E-Type is one of the most gorgeous cars ever built. Some will argue that there is no other vehicle with as sumptuous lines and such a presence as the Series I E-Type. If only there were more of them on the road.
Because it is highly desirable, and sometimes even used in vintage racing, the E-Type is a rare vehicle, and anytime you come across one, it is an absolute treat. But even more rare were the E-Type Lightweights; a run of just 12 specially built vehicles. But the original run was set for 18, and now those remaining six vehicles will be built.

Built between 1963 and 1964, the E-Type Lightweight was meant to take on Ferrari at the track, but after unsuccessful campaigns, the program was abandoned. Now these 6 “missing” chassis will be built, using the original chassis numbers.

According to the UK’s Autocar, vehicles will be built to the original specifications, including the iconic 3.8-liter straight-six, and the modifications that qualify a “Lightweight,” including the removal of interior trim and exterior chrome brightwork. This yields a reduction of 251 pounds off a standard E-Type.

We can’t wait to see these vehicles finished, and– more importantly– how much these vehicles will sell for. When the cars are launched closer to the end of the summer, the pricing will be revealed.
