In August 2013, the boutique German automaker of the wonderfully beautiful Wiesmann lineup filed for bankruptcy. It was unfortunate for fans of the unique brand. But the company pushed on through a rough winter, hoping they could salvage whatever was left of the brand.
Now though, Wiesmann has officially shut its doors for good. According to Auto Express, no one in the company was willing to take the blame for the company’s obligations and all 125 employees left the building, never to return.
With nearly 30 years on the market, we can’t fault Wiesmann for building beautiful and performance worthy cars. Its demise came with a few bad investments amidst the financial crisis of 2009, like a new factory, which eventually lead to its downfall.
So after nearly three decades in the auto industry, Wiesmann will be missed. And all of their beautiful, retro-esque cars will be too.
