Woodn’t You Like to Drive This VW Beetle?

Automotive ingenuity goes hand-in-hand with automotive oddity, and this Volkswagen delivers on both of those fronts. Take a passing glance at this old VW Beetle and you might not realize that the whole car is actually made of wood.

Yep, you heard right – wood. Most retirees enjoy the simpler things in life – shuffleboard, early dinner specials, you get the idea. Momir Bojic, the car’s owner, took retirement a bit more hands-on. Bojic hand built this wooden Beetle by piecing together 50,000 unique cuts of oak, and continues to drive his masterpiece daily in and around the city of Banja Luka, Bosnia.

Aside from its standard VW Beetle running gear, nearly everything you can think of is made of wood, including the body, hubcaps, steering wheel, switches, radio toggles, and even the badge. Thankfully, the seats aren’t reused church pews.

To create the contours and shape of the body, Bojic used a clever shingling technique. We’d say he did quite an excellent job too.
