BOLD RIDE
The Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce Roadster debuted this past weekend at the Monterey Car Week in California. It’s the annual mecca for the rich automotive collector and the hangers on who want to be where the air is rare. And Lambo’s newest ride is a perfect fit for this opulent affair.
A Rare Supercar
With a limited production of 500, you’re never going to own one. That doesn’t make it the rarest Lamborghini, however. Cars like the Reventon (20 coupes and 20 roadsters built), Diablo (two built), Miura Jota (one originally, followed by a limited run of five cars) all have stronger claim. But you can expect that this car will sell out pretty quickly.
A First For Lambo
What is so special about the Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce Roadster? Beside its limited production, this is the first series-produced, open-top Lamborghini to bear the name Superveloce. Now, as Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelman says, owners can combine all the emotions of driving fast with the wind whipping through your hair. Or words to that effect.
It’s Italian for Fast
The next thing to know about the Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce Roadster is it lives up to its SV designation, which means “super fast” in English. It has 750 horsepower at 8,400 rpm and 502 lb. ft. of torque.
The roadster is also 50 lbs. lighter than the Aventador LP 700-4 Roadster. While not svelte, its weight is 3,472 lbs.
Surround-Sound Exhaust
The fourth thing to know about the Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce Roadster is you don’t have to drop the two-piece, carbon fiber top to enjoy the sweet engine note. It comes equipped with a power rear window that opens to enjoy the 6.5-liter, V12 as it explodes from 0-60 in 2.7 seconds towards the top speed of 217 mph.
Open Your Wallet
The fifth and final thing to know is the price. The Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce Roadster can be yours for 357,000 Euros (before the value added tax) or $530,075. Delivery starts in early 2016 but odds are good it will probably be sold out by Labor Day weekend, if not sooner.
