Watch a Challenger Hellcat Race a 774-HP Hennessey Mustang
We have a lot of love for Hennessey here at BoldRide. Think about it—you have a company that takes some of the fastest and most powerful (typically) American cars and supercharges them into the stratosphere. They also perform a host of visual, suspension, and chassis modifications that result in some of the most imposing beasts to prowl American roads.
When Texas-based Hennessey takes in a new car to begin engineering a project car, they benchmark it. This is done by tossing the bone-stock version of the car on a dyno, as well as doing a few recorded high-speed runs. This is one such benchmarking, but they also wanted to see how it did against one of its finished products.
They were curious as to how a dealer-fresh Dodge Challenger Hellcat would perform against a Hennessey-tuned Ford Mustang. The HPE 750 Mustang delivers 774 horsepower from its supercharged 5.0-liter V8. That gives it a 0-60 time of 3.4 seconds, on its way to a top speed of 195.2 mph. Meanwhile, SRT says the Hellcat can do 0-60 in the “low three-second range,” on to a top speed of 199 mph.
So how does the “turn-key” Hellcat do against the Hennessey-tuned ‘Stang? Watch to find out:
UPDATE: Sorry, but it appears that Hennessey took down the original video without warning. We are not sure why the video we made private, but when it becomes available again, we’ll get it back up. In the meantime, check out the stock Hellcat being wrung out on Hennessey’s dyno:
