The London Motor Show returned today after an eight year hiatus, and quite appropriately, resurrected British automaker TVR will make its first public appearance during the show. Or will it…

The last car we saw TVR develop was the gorgeous Sagaris, which was produced in low quantities from 2005 through 2006. While TVR hasn’t announced what the upcoming car will be called, it has said that it will be powered by the same 5.0-liter V8 found in the Ford Mustang GT, only this motor will have been given a through going through by the folks at Cosworth.

On top of featuring an enhanced powerplant, this new vehicle gets a body courtesy of legendary Formula 1 race car designer Gordon Murray’s iStream construction. Because using regular materials in the fully mechanized construction process would not befit such an illustrious machine.

Sturdy and light as hell, the monocoque tub structure and body shell will be made of carbon fiber for special launch editions, and be made available as an option on later production models.

According to a statement by TVR chairman Les Edgar, more than 400 deposits have been put down, and the first year of production is fully allocated. TVR has also made some of its long term plans known, which include adding three more models to the lineup, and producing around 2,000 cars a year by 2022.

Lofty goals to be sure, but with a new production facility in Wales, and Gordon Murray on its side, you have to think that it’s possible for the brand to thrive.
