This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Maserati brand and they’ve been celebrating in style all year long. Most recently, they put a special version of the MC12 GT1 out on the track to the joy of fans at the Virginia International Raceway. This commemorated both their centennial as well as the 57th anniversary of Carroll Shelby’s victory at the same track.
They dubbed this special version the Maserati MC12 GT1 Centenario and gave it a one-of-a-kind paint job. Those lucky enough to be at the raceway got to watch and listen as the car lapped the track. It’s not often that V12 racers show up on tracks in the US, so this was a rare treat.
The Maserati MC12 GT1 is an amazing car even without the paint job that’s on the Centenario. It’s an incredibly successful endurance racer with a 6.0-liter V12 capable of producing 540 horsepower and posting a 0-60 MPH sprint time of just 3.6 seconds. The top speed for this racer is 175 MPH.
