Mazda won’t begin rolling out its seventh generation products until 2018, but we aren’t going to have to wait quite that long to get our hands on a new Mazdaspeed3.
According to Automotive News, you can expect to see this hot little hatch make its triumphant return to the road in 2017. This coincides with a re-engineered Mazda3 that will include a new version of the Skyactiv platform that was first introduced on sixth-generation vehicles. There will be plenty of new sheetmetal to match.
Like the previous gen Mazdaspeed3, expect a unique fascia, body kit and bigger wheels with low-profile, high-performance tires. It’s all designed to make sure that the Mazdaspeed3 will stand out from the standard Mazda3 model.
It’s also possible, though not definite, that Mazda may make the Mazdaspeed3 with all-wheel drive. This would set the car up to be a perfect contender with the likes of the performance oriented Subaru WRX STI.
