Tuning firms and body-mod companies tend to be a dime a dozen, offering a unique albeit sometimes rough-around-the-edges treatment to the world’s luxury four-wheeled vehicles.

This though, this appears to be a standout. Designed by German tuner Manhart Performance, this is its take on the new BMW i8 hybrid sportster. And we’ve got to say it pushes all the right buttons in a conservative way.

Teased on Facebook with little more than the caption “Coming soon,” Manhart makes no claims as to increased power, performance or handling.

Though we’d be perfectly set with just the body upgrades. The Manhart i8 wears golden yellow accents on its grille, badging, mirrors, side skirts, and rear bumper, visually not far removed from the iconic Lotus John Player Special color scheme.

Additionally, Manhart’s i8 sits lower to the ground and struts a new pair of wheels, which appear to be Manhart alloys. Though considering these are merely renders, there’s a good chance the final product could look different, and in that case … we’d probably opt for this stunner.

Underneath, all i8 coupes ship from the factory equipped with BMW’s TwinPower turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder, paired with an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery pack to produce 357 horsepower. They propel the car from zero to 60 mph in around 4.4 seconds and up to a limited top speed of 155 mph.
