The weather is finally warming up across the country, so it’s only right that Porsche unveiled the sportier 2016 Boxster Spyder at this week’s 2015 New York International Auto Show. At its core, the Boxster Spyder is staying old-school, available only in manual and with a top only opened by hand.
The mid-engined roadster 3.8-liter flat-six engine (the base model has a 2.6 flat-six) pumps out 375 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque, which is a full 110 (!) more horsepower than the base and 103 more lb-ft. That means it’s the most powerful Boxster ever built. The Spyder has a curb weight of 2,899 lbs, sits 20 mm lower, and pulls brakes from the 911 Carrera S. That also means this is the lightest Boxster available.
Regardless, the car jumps from 0-60 in 4.3 seconds and has a top speed of 180 mph, so this thing can go. And it looks beautiful. Interior wise, a radio and air conditioning are not standard to help keep weight down.
The Boxster Spyder starts at $82,100 and can be yours starting this October.
