Mercedes Isn’t Building a Hypercar, Unfortunately

If you haven’t seen the new Mercedes-AMG GT— what the heck are you doing with your life? The smaller, nimbler and prettier GT sports car replaced the outgoing SLS and has been doing a stellar job of making the German marque cool again. But could they go even sportier with it?

 

Um…no. According to a new report, Mercedes has pretty much ruled out the idea of building a hardcore hypercar anytime soon. Looks like we won’t be getting something like the beautiful AMG Vision GT you see here.

And Mercedes-AMG chief executive Tobias Moers was pretty blunt about it, too, “A hypercar is nothing what we have. There is no discussion. There’s nothing under study — nothing…Not this decade.”

But hey, if we’re going to play devil’s advocate here— he did say “not this decade.” So maybe next decade?
