The Tesla Model S has gotten yet another makeover thanks to an aftermarket company that thinks the car wasn’t quite good enough the way it rolled off the line. That company would be Larte, which has facilities in both California and Germany and has set its eyes on giving the Model S a bit of an overhaul.

That overhaul includes things like custom bumpers, grilles and fender vents that make the somewhat tame sedan look a lot more aggressive. It looks good, but now it also sounds, well, like a car. They’ve added an electronic motor sound to the Tesla in the interest of safety— so it doesn’t catch some unwitting pedestrian by surprise.

The kits are made out of basalt fiber which is made from lava rock. It is very light and very strong with a high strength-to-weight ratio. Larte’s special bumper weights less than 30 pounds. The stuff is also used in bulletproof vests, although, don’t get any ideas about testing that feature with your Tesla.

It’s also resistant to things like moisture, salt solutions, alkali and acids so that it will better stand up to the rigors of daily use. Larte designed the kit to not just look good, but improve the car with better materials and an overall reduction in the vehicle’s weight.
