The Porsche 918 Spyder has been featured in plenty of drag race videos because, let’s face it, it’s a fine looking car and it’s plenty quick. This latest video has the car driving through the Australian Outback and it manages to go so fast that it sets a new record in the process.

Behind the wheel is Craig Baird who is a New Zealand race car driver and who has competed in the Carrera Cup. He knows how to handle this kind of car so it makes sense that he was chosen to set it loose on a section of open road where the speed limit is only set by your car and your driving skill.

The 918 was made in a limited run of 918 units and is completely sold out so you aren’t likely to see one of these on the road in real life. It has a 4.6-liter V8 and two hybrid motors that produce a combined 887 horsepower to give it a 0-60 time of 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 210 MPH.
That last number is the one that is tested in this video as Baird hits 350 KPH or 217.5 MPH. This sets a new record for the Porsche 918 Spyder and is impressive to watch.
