BOLD RIDE
The Bloodhound SSC has announced its public coming out party: Nov. 17. The big event takes place at the Newquay Aerohub, Cornwall in England.
Bloodhound is the British project to build the world’s fastest car. By achieving quadruple figures, organizers hope to smash the current record of 763 mph set by Thrust SSC, a UK team led by Richard Noble and driven by Andy Green: both of whom are involved in the Bloodhound project.
Organizers (probably seeking some great tax deductions) have turned the Bloodhound into a massive STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) learning program for about 100,000 British tykes. They’re going to learn about things like the aluminum disc wheels that spin at over 170 revolutions per second. Calculations indicate that at peak speed, the wheels will be generating 50,000 radial g at their rim.
More information about the November event is available at the Bloodhound website. You’ll need to be a donor to receive an invite.
