The new Mercedes C-Class sedan has been heralded as a pretty great thing. A healthy upgrade over the previous generation, if you will. But in order to really cement itself as a better option over the previous generation, it needs to show off its sportier side.

Sitting down with the good folks at Automotive News, Mercedes Chief Designer Gorden Wagener said the C-Class will do just that with an upcoming more hardcore, sportier, two-door version. Now that’s what we like to hear.

We’ll catch our first glimpse of the new and improved C-Class Coupe this year at the Frankfurt Auto Show. With it, we’ll see a lower roofline, a driver-centric layout, and likely some sportier cues on the outside—Not to mention a whole brigade of engine options.

Starting from the bottom; the C300 coupe will use a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine pumping out 241 horsepower. Move up from there and the C400 Coupe will use a 329-horsepower 3.0-liter V6, and the C450 AMG Coupe will have a 362-horsepower 3.0-liter V6.
But wait, there’s more. The C63 AMG Coupe will have a 469-horsepower engine, and the top-of-the-line C63 S Coupe will round things off with 503-horsepower. Got it? Good.
Keep your eyes peeled when the Frankfurt Auto Show rolls around in September.
