Over the past few years, McLaren F1s have been skyrocketing in value. It doesn’t matter if the car is a high serial number, or if it has been crashed multiple times either. The value of these rare early hypercars cannot and will not be stopped. Prices regularly top over $5 million, with some of the rarer versions, and low serial numbers topping out over $10 million. However, some of the rarest and most coveted McLaren F1s are the LM (Le Mans) spec cars.

In 1995, McLaren blitzed the historic 24 Hours of Le Mans with the company’s racecars coming in 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 13th. It was a historic win for the company, and truly one of the greatest feats in racing history ever achieved. To celebrate that momentous win, the company built five special edition McLaren F1 LMs.

The cars were modified to produce 691 horsepower, had an upgraded gearbox, and were fitted with a massive rear wing to produce extra down force. That said, the demand for the car exceeded McLarens initial foresight and a further two stock F1s were brought back to the factory and upgraded to LM spec. Now, 20 years later and the price for these cars are sharply increasing. Currently, one of those two updated F1 LMs will be coming up for auction and it could be one of the most expensive cars ever sold.

Being auctioned off next month by RM Auctions, this beautiful red McLaren F1 LM, chassis number 63 is set to cross the block and possibly set some records. It is in absolute pristine condition, and features all the LM upgrades that were fitted to the original five cars.

But how much will this amazing piece of automotive technology and history go for? Well, that McLaren F1 owned (and crashed twice) by Rowan Atkinson sold last month for a staggering $12 million. So, it is fair to say that this non-crashed, super rare, low chassis number McLaren F1 LM will probably go for quite a bit more. Our personal guess is closer to $20 million.
