Fast cars like the Chevrolet Camaro are wonderful toys, but there are rules you have to follow when you’re on the road. It doesn’t matter how fast your car can go, how well it handles, or how good you drive, speed limits must be obeyed. One Camaro driver in Minnesota decided the rules didn’t apply to him, and got caught doing 171 MPH on the highway.

The 36-year-old man from Duluth was caught by Deputy Chief Shawn Padden of the Hermantown Police Department. He was out enforcing the law on a four-lane section of Highway 61 when the car made an appearance.

Padden said he had to get up to around 140 MPH himself before he caught up enough to get the Camaro driver’s attention. According to StarTribune, he was hoping it would at least be a celebrity, but no such luck.

The driver didn’t say why he was going so fast, but he did receive a pricey souvenir of the occasion. Padden cited him for careless driving, which comes with a fine of up to $1,000 and 90 days in jail if the man is found guilty. Ouch.
