The new CX-3 features Mazda’s SKYACTIV-G 2-liter engine with a new-generation AWD system. A six-speed automatic transmission comes standard, but you can opt for a six-speed manual.
A 1.5 liter diesel engine will be offered as well worldwide, but it's not clear if that version will be available in the U.S. market.
The CX-3 is Mazda’s fifth model that employs what Mazda calls, the KODO design language, which it's applying throughout the model range.
The design language goes back to the Mazda2 ,and can be seen on the all the cars they showed of today in Los Angeles. The front grill is less smile-y than previous generations ,and bodylines are more defined and aggressive.
The CX-3 has narrow rear windows that could hamper visibility on the small SUV, but we’ll have to wait for a first drive to find out for certain. The side view mirrors on the CX-3 are low on the doors rather than on the A-pillar, which Mazda says is done to improve visibility out of the front of the vehicle.
