The 1963 Chevrolet Testudo Prototype
For this throwback Thursday, we bring you the 1963 Chevrolet Testudo, a design study from the Bertone studios in Italy built upon the chassis of the Chevy Corvair. Drawn by Giorgetto Giugiaro, the Testudo — a Latin word that means turtle — the design influenced a generation of cars, including the Porsche 928, and is now considered a landmark in Giugiaro's career. The Testudo was auctioned in 2011 for $527,000.
