If you tried, you couldn’t possibly come up with a weirder automotive promotion. First, let’s backtrack. This is a Mitsuoka Orochi. We figured we had seen the last of these four-wheeled oddities when the Final Edition debuted earlier this year.

Apparently, we hadn’t. Mitsuoka has brought the Orochi back from the grave and will give it a final eleven car limited-run send off. As you have surely guessed, it will look like this.

Striking, no? It’s a design inspired by the Japanese anime series Neon Genesis Evangelion, and befitting its inspiration, the colorful Mitsuoka will bear part of that moniker. Weirder still, the Orochi Evangelion edition will only be available through Japanese 7-Eleven convenient stores. You heard right, 7-Eleven.

Interested buyers simply go up to the cashier at your local Japanese 7-Eleven (bit of a snafu if you wanted one stateside) and submit your entry. Mitsuoka will then call you to confirm your interest in buying one and the lucky winners will be announced in December.

The cost? The Orochi Evangelion will retail for ¥16,000,000 or about $135,000. And for that you get more or less a normal Orochi…with of course a very flashy paint job.

The fish-inspired Mitsuoka sports a Toyota 3.3-liter V6 mounted in the middle and sends 230 slithering horsepowers to the rear wheels through a five-speed automatic gearbox. A back-up camera, front splitter, “sports muffler”, and Alcantara steering wheel complete the package.
