No one in their right mind goes out and buys a flame-throwing, tire-eating supercar in the name of mpg. But for those that might, the new Corvette Z06 might be one of the cars at the top of their list.

Thanks to a bit of searching by AutoEvolution, we know that the 650-horsepower supercharged V8 returns a pretty impressive 13 mpg city and 23 mpg highway for an average of 16 mpg.

It may not seem like much, but that’s better than the Ferrari 458 and Lamborghini Aventador, and almost as good as the McLaren 650S (24 mpg highway). And, with a price tag of only $78,000, the new Corvette Z06 could prove to be one of the best supercar buys around when it goes on sale next year.
