Fun fact: U.S. women’s goalie Hope Solo has been stopping opponent goals for the United States since 1996 when she was a member of the U16 team. Another fun fact: she also likes to drive Corvettes on the race track. Fast.

In honor of tonight’s big World Cup game vs Japan, we wanted to throwback to 2011 when she was behind the wheel of a Chevrolet Corvette at the Brickyard 400.

In 2011, officials called on Solo to hop behind the wheel of the Chevy pace car. The car in question was a 2011 Corvette Grand Sport and the race was the NASCAR Brickyard 400. Though she was limited to just 55 mph pacing the race, she did manage to open it up a little beforehandNow that’s what we like to hear. Someone get her a contract.

Tonight she’ll be in goal as the U.S. takes on Japan for the World Cup. We’ll definitely be cheering them on, and hoping that time on the track honed her skills for keeping the ball out of the goal.
