Would This Tesla Pickup Truck Make Any Sense?

We live in a weird world. But it could get even weirder if Tesla decided to build an electric pickup truck. Thankfully, Elon Musk hasn’t decided on that (yet), but one rendering artist thinks the company should, and use some cues from the Model X SUV in the process.

 

This is the concept Theophilus Chin came up with. The front end comes ripped right off the Model X, while the body itself doesn’t necessarily resemble classic pickup truck styling, but looks something closer to a lifted Subaru Baja (not that that’s a bad thing).

 

But where did this whole idea come from? Well, it came from Tesla, actually. You might remember back in 2013 when CEO Elon Musk told the press that Tesla would in fact be building a pickup truck. Though, we suspect it was just some clever PR to distract from recall talk.

 

So far, we haven’t seen any more ideas of an electric pickup from the California automaker. But if it looks anything like the concept we see in front of us, that might be a hard pass.
