It’s the end of the month, and although the numbers aren’t in just yet, it looks like the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat has been selling better than anyone expected. The guys at Allpar have some impressive numbers to report courtesy of Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis.
He reportedly said over 4,000 people ordered a Challenger Hellcat when the system first went up and that the total now is up well over 5,000. That’s a hell of a lot of Hellcats and it exceeds the forecasts that Dodge originally set for the insane muscle car.
A local dealer also told Allpar that the car is selling so well that as the Hellcats roll onto the lot, they roll right back out because they’ve all already been sold to customers. They’ve sold so many that they won’t even be taking any new orders until sometime in December.
Those sales numbers and the lack of vehicles sitting on the lot mean that cars at this dealership are fetching a premium. The source said that they’re selling Hellcats for as much as $10,000 over the sticker price. That means that the $59,995 Challenger Hellcat is topping out just under $70,000.
The Challenger was also a bright spot amid less than stellar Consumer Reports ratings for Fiat Chrysler vehicles. It joined the Durango on the list of “recommended cars.”
