This past weekend, in a strange, far away land known as Scottsdale, Arizona, Barrett-Jackson managed to move over $130 million worth of classic and exotic cars. This black Ferrari F40, done up by Gas Monkey Garage from Discovery Channel’s Fast N’ Loud, happened to be one of them. Um, again.
You may remember that this time last year, baseball legend Reggie Jackson picked up the custom Ferrari from Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale for a cool $675,000. This time, he was the one doing the selling. According to Jackson, “It’s too fast for me so someone else now needs to own it.”
Now, someone does — except they paid much less than Reggie would have liked. The all-black-everything F40 only fetched $643,500 on the auction block. This is probably one of the few (only?) examples of a Ferrari F40 deprecating, especially at an auction setting.
Nevertheless, now someone else gets to play with their fun new toy. Let’s hope they don’t put it into a fence like the first owner.
