Golf Ace Bubba Watson Used to Drive this Bonkers Mercedes

Golf is rarely a fist-fighting, head-bashing sporting event. But that doesn’t mean its players are as reserved off the green as they are on. Case in point, this is two-time Masters Tournament champion Bubba Watson’s custom 2008 Mercedes CLK63 AMG Black Series.

It’s a 600-horsepower ballistic missile and it could now be yours because the rabid AMG recently went up for sale on eBay. The car originally cost Bubba $138,000 … it can now be had for significantly less.

The hardcore CLK63 Black spawned as a nod to the brand’s Formula-1 safety car at the time. While the normal CLK was a bit plebeian, this AMG tuned version was anything but. Mercedes massaged in aerodynamic tweaks, flared out the fenders, and dropped its 500 horsepower 6.2-liter V8 under the hood. That meant zero to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 186 miles per hour.
Apparently Watson wanted more, because according to the seller, he handed the car to RENNtech for a complete overhaul. A mere $34,000 later, the CLK was pumping out over 600 horsepower and looked the part with custom racing stripes, an adjustable carbon fiber wing, and blacked-out tinting.

 

The Mercedes comes with 19-inch AMG wheels and wears 385/30 tires in the back. If you’re thinking of buying, that’s a number you ought to memorize as you’ll go through quite a lot of rubber. We leave you with this clip of Bubba, reinforcing the fact that these tires are disposable.
