Lewis Hamilton is just a man with his dog and his car… his rare, highly lusted-after car. Mercedes-Benz AMG’s leading man recently showed off his Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 on Instgram, posting, “Beach day last Sunday with my Coco, and my #shelbyGT500 #BEAST #Eleanor.” But there’s a small problem.
Although the car he is referring to in hashtagging “Eleanor” was indeed a 1967 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, his car is actually a replica and even has a slightly different face. This car was built by Classic Recreations and is called the G.T.500CR.
These models use authentic Shelby parts and are officially registered in the Shelby database, but they use some modern tech in the suspension and the 5.0-liter V8 Coyote engine. This is about as close as you get to a brand new Eleanor without actually having Eleanor.
