The Cars of ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’

Ladies, Mr. Grey will see you now. One of the most hotly anticipated movies of the year — Fifty Shades of Grey — hits theaters tomorrow, and I’m sure most of you men will be dragged to it. But don’t worry, there is something you can at least look forward to: the cars.

Audi inked a deal to have its cars play a starring role in the film, just like they did in the book. But that’s not all — billionaire playboy Mr. Grey has plenty of other toys he wants to show movie goers. And yes, that was a double entendre.

According to production notes, the luxury cars and helicopters “take the spending side of Christian [Grey] one step further, the billionaire resembles a James Bond character in a lot of ways.” James Bond, you say? Judging by his eclectic collection of vehicles, we would say so.

EC130 Helicopter

Where would an eccentric billionaire be without his own private helicopter? At approximately $2 million, the Eurocpter EC130 is one of the “largest helicopters that may be privately owned,” producers told us. We fully expect some shenanigans to go down between Mr. Grey and Ana in this thing.

Audi R8

When he’s not flying in the air, he’s probably flying on the street. The Audi R8 is one of the most respected supercars on the planet. And with a hardtop V10 in the movie, there’s no lack of power.
In the book, at least, Ana is so enthralled with Mr. Grey’s R8, that he buys her one for her 22nd birthday. I wonder if she knows how to drive stick…

Audi S8

When he’s feeling slightly less eccentric, Mr. Grey floats around in a large-and-in-charge Audi S8. With 520 horsepower, this lovely luxury sedan definitely isn’t lacking on power or class. This might be the replacement for the SUV found in the books.

Audi A3

Audi and producers got together to make sure the all-new A3 had a guest appearance in the film, even before it went on sale. This one is Ana’s, which like the R8, was given to her by Christian Grey.

Saab 9-3

In the book, Ana’s Audi A3 gets trashed by a former lover of Christian Greys. In order to make up for the mess, Mr. Grey goes and buys her a Saab 9-3 2.0 turbo. We can’t fault the man for good taste.

Volkswagen Beetle

Before Ana had an R8 or even an A3, she was driving around in a light blue Beetle nicknamed “Wanda.” When she agrees to be a member of Mr. Grey’s, um, antics, he sells Wanda and buys her the aforementioned A3.
