When the new 2016 Ford GT was unveiled in Detroit this year, the car stunned the world. At the time, Ford declined to comment on the GT’s horsepower rating, only stating it would have more than 600-horsepower. There’s still no official word from Ford, but thanks to Forza Motorsport 6, we may finally know that 630 horsepower is the car’s magic number.
Forza 6 will finally hit shelves starting September 15th, but a few lucky fans have already had the chance to play the latest edition of the popular racing simulator and found a few interesting technical stats on the game’s cover car, the Ford GT.
According to Forza 6, besides developing 630 horsepower, the Ford GT will make 539 lb-ft of torque. It will also weigh just 2,890 lbs, undercutting both the Ferrari 488 GTB, and the McLaren 675LT. However, the Ferrari and McLaren each more horsepower. Additionally, the Ford GT will have a 43/57 (front/rear) weight distribution.
We’d hazard taking any of these technical specifications at face value though. Ford is still in the process of refining the car, and final numbers can change drastically over the course of the cars development.
What we do know for certain is that the Ford GT uses a carbon fiber monocoque with aluminum sub-frames that allow the car to be homologated for next year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans. And, that it will carry a price tag of around $400,000.
Additionally, Ford will only produce 250 units of the Ford GT each year, thereby making it one of the most exclusive supercars on the planet.
