Bond Spectre cars in action

The allure of James Bond isn’t just the beautiful women who populate the screen, the remote locations, or the action sequences. It’s also the cars. Well, maybe not the AMC Hornet from “The Man with the Golden Gun.”

Jaguar Land Rover has introduced two of the cars that will be the co-stars of the newest James Bond movie “Spectre” that opens Nov. 6 in the United States. They’re the stunning Jaguar C-X75 supercar, specially modified Land Rover Defenders, and Range Rover Sport SVR.

The Jaguar C-X75 was first introduced at the 2010 Paris Auto Show before being pressed into duty for the Bond film. The big shame is it is only a concept and is not slated to go into production (especially with Jaguar slashing prices and extending warranties).

It has a carbon-fiber chassis but it’s better known for its performance. Jaguar claims it can hit 100 mph in less than six seconds. Yet it also has C02 emissions about 33 percent lower than most cars on the road.

The Range Rover Sport SVR is the most expensive Range Rover on the market at $111,350. But it’s not known for its price tag. Instead it’s being touted by Range Rover for its 5.0-liter, supercharged V8 that produces 550 horsepower.

That means, in addition to its spectacular off-road prowess, the Sport SVR can hit 162 mph on the track. The 0-60 jaunt is done in 4.2 seconds. Just to make you appreciate that power it has an electronically controlled two-stage active exhaust.

Land Rover says the Defenders are made by its special operations division. They come shod with 37-inch off-road tires. They also get additional body protection to survive the stunts on the snowy mountain roads in Austria.

Watch some of the action below in the official trailer for “Spectre” where the cars are some of the best parts of the movie as always.
