BOLD RIDE
Every year, numerous Cattle Baron’s Ball events take place across the U.S., each with the aim of raising money and awareness for the American Cancer Society. On Saturday, the Cattle Baron’s Ball moseys into Detroit, and Ford will auction off one of its proudest stallions at the charity event—a one-off customized 2016 Shelby GT350R.
The special Cattle Baron’s Ball GT350R, seen below, comes dressed in Oxford white paint, complemented by blue centerline stripes and additional carbon fiber exterior accents. Inside, the Mustang features special stitching that mirrors the blue stripes, applied to the custom door panels, seats, center console, instrument panel, and steering wheel.
Left untouched, the 2016 Shelby GT350R is the purest Mustang of the modern day, eschewing rear seats, air-conditioning, a stereo system, trunk floorboards, and a backup camera in the pursuit of light weight. This special Shelby GT350R, however, will be the first of the production run to come equipped with the non-standard rear seat kit, allowing the winning bidder to share those 526 horses with two extra passengers.
“We are customizing this unique Shelby GT350R Mustang to attract the highest possible bids from car collectors,” said Ford’s vice president of Global Purchasing, Hau Thai-Tang, in a statement, “and, ultimately, the most money to support American Cancer Society research, programs and services for cancer survivors and their loved ones.”
The charity auction takes place at Detroit’s Cobo Center on Saturday, September 26.
