With a model lineup that, as of yesterday, featured only five cars, the introduction of any new Rolls-Royce is a big deal. With that, Rolls-Royce hosted a live reveal online this morning to digitally take the wraps on the latest addition to their lineup; the Dawn.
Rolls-Royce says it is a true four-seat convertible, but that it attracts a younger buyer. Not to mention designers are calling it, “the sexiest Rolls-Royce ever made.”
The name comes from the stunning Silver Dawn model that was built from 1949 to 1955, of which only 760 were made. The new Dawn features an open pore wood convertible deck, which we suspect is a multi-thousand dollar option. The Rolls-Royce-level attention to detail is also found in the hand-stitching in the heather, Midnight Sapphire paint job and hand-painted coachline.
Now, on to the defining feature of the Dawn. Rolls-Royce calls the convertible top, “the quietest soft-top available anywhere today.” The automaker also says its goal was to create a car that looked just as good with the top up as it did with it lowered. Dropping that top takes 22 seconds, and can do it at speeds up to 31mph.
Pricing and availability has not yet been released, though it really doesn’t matter at this point. The entire first-year production run has already been sold out.
